What is a Transfer Case?

The transfer case on your all-wheel-drive (AWD) or four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle is what makes shifting the gear ratio from two-wheel to 4WD possible. Placed behind the transmission, they work together with the driveshaft to change the vehicle’s drive.
